Today, for my Food Photography Friday post I thought I’d do a quick re-hash of the Cupcake Conference held at the Grand America in Salt Lake City. I was privileged to be the food photographer for the event, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of my absolute favorite people in the whole wide world, Stephanie, put the Cupcake Conference together (along with some fab helpers). It was the result of a joke on Twitter that turned into reality. Fabulous.
The Cupcake Conference was held in a swanky suite at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. It was GORGEOUS and had an especially lovely view of the city. The first part of the event was a real treat: hearing the Grand America pastry chef tell us all about her story, her philosophy on cupcakes and how important it is to be passionate about whatever you do in life. I love hearing professionals say they’re doing what they love, especially encouraging others to do the same.
Afterward, all the attendees had the opportunity to participate in a cupcake conference. The Grand America supplied all the cupcakes (including vegan and gluten-free cupcakes), icing and decor. It was really fun to see all the clever, beautiful cupcake creations.
Winners were selected (& given AMAZING prizes… wow).
Then we went upstairs to enjoy some tasty cupcakes prepared by the Grand America, massages, a cupcake presentation and lots of fun giveaways. It was a lovely night & I’m so glad I was able to participate!
These were my two favorite shots from the Cupcake Conference (yes, they are set up similarly, but I still love them both). I took these shots on the floor, crouched behind a couch in the Grand America suite (remember that I’m preggo), doing my best to squeeze as much of the fading light from the windows into the photos as possible. Quite an adventure, but well worthwhile! ;)
